Perhaps we don't really think about the power of the media. after watching the wall street thugs testify to congress it is clear nothing has changed. They do not care about what has happened. The media (cnbc) defends these folks as the ones who will lead us out of the recession. They ask "why do we beat up on the people that will lead us out of the problems" The reason is accountability for greed and averous. The CEO's to a man told Congress how well they have done without a single apology for allowing the mess to happen in the 1st place.
Sander E Samuels, the chief legal officer of the former countrywide financial and the current head leagl dude at Bank of America is quoted as saying that he didn't care what happened, they were "going to make these loans until the last second they are legal". Yahoo reports this quote and it would be good for you to read the article "How Banks are worsening the Foreclosure Crisis" posted today 2/13/2009. It also states in the article That Senator Chriss Dodd, Chairman of the Banking committee took 5.9 million in contributions from the financial services industry in 2007-2008. Can you say conflict?
Sorry Prez. you MAY be the next Lincoln (a big MAY) but the establishment in Washington and the greed of the politicians who are in bed with Wall street and the big regional banks are gonna manipulate the system so they get what they want no matter what. The sad part is that these CEOs actually believe they are the gods of finance and better than the rest of us.

what a surprize
I am sitting here on Sunday AM and watching all the political shows and wondering where the change is that the politicians promised. As a life long Republican and a supporter of the conservative view I am shocked and appalled by the "business as usual" that the politicos are displaying. I guess I shouldn't be shocked. As of now, I publicly renounce my affiliation with any political party as they are all seemingly corrupt, greedy, and only are interested in their own well being. They take money from lobbyist to insure they have jobs after they leave Congress, and they take money to say what the corrupt company CEOs and Wall street want them to not say, or say, or do. Can you say Madoff? The bailout of banks who created the mess and have now thumbed their noses at the public by taking taxpayers money and refusing to lend. They want more of the same and business as usual. Congress is just as bad. Did you ever ask yourself why the Congress bailed our AIG and let Lehman collapse? It's because AIG is the manager of the CONGRESSIONAL PENSION FUND. They wanted to be sure to protect themselves. No one bailed us out when we all lost our pensions and 401k stock in the United Airlines bankruptcy a few years ago. And, I'm sure there are 1000s of other examples of little guys like me getting screwed out of our life savings and pensions. My wife and I have been laid off since OCT of 2008 and are struggling to figure out how to keep food on the table and our house. Obviously we are not alone. It appears the rich get richer and the middle class poor go away. It's time to start over and get rid of the entire group. Dodd, Reid, McCain, Pelosi and the rest of Republicans and Democrats need to retire, collect their pensions and get the hell out. There is no substitute for common sense except when something or someone pays you enough money to make common sense go away.
